The Gateway Hotel IT Expressway Chennai has appointed Ranjit Shankar as the General Manager of the hotel. Prior to joining The Gateway Hotel IT Expressway Chennai, Ranjit has had an opportunity to lead teams as the General Manager of The Gateway Hotels in Surat, Mangalore, and Madurai. His current stint at The Gateway Hotel IT Expressway Chennai is his fourth as the General Manager.

Ranjit has almost 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has always been associated with the Taj Group. He joined the Taj group of hotels through campus recruitment and has worked across the country in metros as well as other cities, and brings with him the experience of working in both, business and resort hotels.

Starting his career as a Hotel Operations Trainee with the Taj, Ranjit was given the responsibility of Lobby Manager at Vivanta by Taj – MG Road, Bangalore followed by Vivanta by Taj – Aurangabad, Maharashtra. He then went on become the Front Office Manager of The Gateway Hotel Beach Road Calicut. He later joined Vivanta by Taj – Connemara, Chennai and from there moved to Vivanta by Taj –President in Mumbai as the Accommodations Manager. He got his first assignment as the General Manager of The Gateway Hotel Old Port Road Mangalore. From there, he moved to helm the team at The Gateway Hotel Pasumalai Madurai, followed by The Gateway Hotel Athwalines Surat. Believing inbeing quality-driven and bringing out the best in all stakeholders, Ranjit has shaped the launch of Chennai’s 5th Taj Hotel.
